Reading Frederick Douglass Together in Holyoke, MA.

This is the recording of the event ‘Reading Frederick Douglass Together,’ a free community event at De La Luz Divine Theatre, in celebration of Juneteenth.

In addition to the reading of Frederick Douglass’s speech, the audience experienced a performance of Lift Every Voice and Sing, led by the award-winning REVOLUTION A Cappella ensemble under the musical direction of Marcos Carreras.

Also, the audience got the opportunity to enjoy an exclusive preview of ‘July 5th,’ a new play by Ken Green. Featuring music performed by REVOLUTION A Cappella, scene segments performed by playwright Ken Green with resident creatives Priscilla Kane Hellweg, and Gloria Caballero-Roca. And the event concluded with a conversation with playwright Ken Green and Mass Humanities facilitator Latoya Bosworth.
