The Holyoke community has gained a new spot dedicated to a love of books and culture.

With great enthusiasm, the Wistariahurst Museum officially unveiled its new Little Free Library, a space designed for sharing, donating, and discovering reading materials completely free of charge.

The ceremony took place during the morning of July 27, 2026, at the museum’s library at 238 Cabot Street. Mayor Joshua A. García attended the event and led a special storytime session for the children and families who gathered to celebrate this community initiative.

This little free library is the result of the generosity of Kelly and Bill Bousquet, longtime museum volunteers. Kelly shared that she held fond childhood memories of Wistariahurst and wanted to share her passion for reading with all of Holyoke’s residents. Her husband, Bill, designed and built the structure himself. This new space complements the recent renovation of the museum’s main library. Attendees were also able to enjoy new exhibit panels dedicated to the historic Skinner Coffee House, as well as new display cases showcasing archival objects in a comfortable, welcoming setting.
