Holyoke Media Presents: Paint the Town. A conversation with Britt Ruhe from CommonWealth Murals.
Britt Ruhe is the Executive Director of CommonWealth Murals, an organization dedicated to the creation of murals, public art by partnering with communities to create vibrant murals that tell, reclaim, and reshape local stories. Guided by community input, these murals are brought to life by the shared effort of local painters working alongside professional artists.
In this conversation, we discuss the process to create murals, and some of the most relevant projects made in Springfield, and Holyoke, MA.
Also, Britt is inviting the public to their second annual event “Paint the Town” at the White Lion Brewery in Springfield, on Thursday, June 26th, from 6:00 to 9:00 pm. This is an opportunity to connect with artists, and the community; learn more about the work CommonWealth Murals is doing, and participate in a collective experience of painting together the next piece that will be installed later this year in Indian Orchard.
