Day of the Dead in Holyoke is celebrated with three ofrendas at Wistariahurst, HCC, and Laurel Park.
As part of the Mexican tradition of celebrating the Day of the Dead on November 1st and 2nd, Holyoke has not only one, but three community forendas this year, located at the Wistariahurst Museum, Laurel Park, and outside El Centro at Holyoke Community College.
Thanks to the continuous efforts by Attack Bear Press, the community ofrendas at Laurel Park and Wistariahurst were possible, and thanks to El Centro at HCC, and its director Julissa Colón as well as professor Raúl Gutiérrez, their ofrenda adds another point of souls connection, and community engagement about this meaningful celebration for the Mexican, and Latin American community.
Take a look to the three ofrendas, and also hear our conversation with Julissa Colón, Director at ‘El Centro’ at Holyoke Community College, as well as Dr. George Timmons, President of HCC. The three forendas will be available for the public at least until Friday, November 3rd, 2023.
