On March 27, 2025, El Centro, at Holyoke Community College, hosted the event “Empowered Pages, Cafecito, & Pastries: A Celebration of Women”.

This event featured a book reading by poet, activist, and author, Mishie Serrano, as she debuts her first book, paired with a tasty coffee sampling from Cafe Con Joselyn, and a sweet treat from Sugarfix.

Also, there was a panel featuring the entrepreneurs behind these businesses: Mishie Serrano, Joselyn Figueroa, and Elisha Velez.
