SUMMARY:We Are Each Other's Magnitude
DESCRIPTION:Taken from the poetry of the great Gwendolyn Brooks\, “We Are Each Other’s Magnitude” honors our Ancestors\, blood\, chosen\, Queer/Trans & literary\, and reminds us of our power to create liberatory futures. Ebbie and Julissa developed this series as a response to an expressed urgent need for creative/healing spaces for Queer/Trans Black & Indigenous People of Color and disabled communities. Centering and celebrating QTBIPOC experiences\, we work to cultivate and contribute to our collective thriving through multi-arts workshops\, performances\, readings\, and open mics. Ebbie Russell and Julissa Rodríguez are QTBIPOC transdisciplinary artists\, poets\, and community organizers who prioritize 2SLGBTQIA\, Neuro-expansive\, and Disabled Black\, Brown\, and Indigenous people. We welcome folks who are fierce allies who commit to calling out and dismantling xenophobia\, anti-Blackness\, anti-fatness\, saneism\, ableism\, sexism\, homophobia\, and transphobia. \nPeople across all identities are welcome to attend this FREE workshop\, open mic and poetry reading. We invite you to bring your grief\, your rage\, your joy\, your songs\, lyrics\, and whatever’s on your heart! \n5:30-6:30 pm – Poetry Workshop\n(Spots are limited.) \n7:30-9 pm – Poetry Reading + Open Mic\n(open to adults and youth ages 14+)\n**Youth poets prioritized 7:30-7:50 pm** \nSlots are 3 min. for the open mic (1 longer poem or 2 very short poems) \nFeatured poet Pampi performs at 8:30 pm.
