 In Updates

Fernandez Restaurant has been a staple of the City of Holyoke for more than three decades.

As a way to recognize the contributions of the Fernandez family to the community and the city of Holyoke, a send off event led by Maria Salgado-Cartagena, took place on Friday, July 22nd, at Veterans Park, where State Rep. Pat Duffy; Holyoke City Council President, Todd McGee; and Holyoke Mayor, Joshua García, recognized Don Rafael Fernandez and his family, with citations and proclamations for his many years of service and commitment to the people and the city of Holyoke, with his service through his business.

Councilor McGee announced during the event that an order has been filed for the City Council to address on August 2nd, to rename North Summer Street as Fernandez Way, as a way to honor the Fernandez Family’s legacy to the City of Holyoke.

We got to hear Don Rafael Fernandez sharing his thoughts on the recognition the people of Holyoke made for him, showing up to this send off event.
