Holyoke Media Presents: Al Wilson, CEO and founder of Beyond Walls returning to Holyoke.

In Arts, Arts and Culture, News

In this session, we talk to Al Wilson, founder and CEO of Beyond Walls.

For the second consecutive year, Beyond Walls is in Holyoke to produce colorful, large-scale murals celebrating the dynamic communities of the city, their rich histories, and the significant contributions of Holyoke’s diverse populations. This is a work that Beyond Walls is doing across the commonwealth, focusing on gateway cities. More than 10 murals will be installed in Holyoke over a two-week period that began in June 15, showcasing the impact of the city’s Afro-Caribbean, Latinx and European cultural communities.

Beyond Walls has partnered with the City of Holyoke, Nueva Esperanza, El Corazón de Holyoke, Mass in Motion, Holyoke Public Schools, Holyoke Community College, One Holyoke CDC, and Holyoke Community College.

World-class artists will be painting the exterior walls of buildings as tall as 50 feet high and 170 feet long using lifts and ladders. Work will continue through June 30th.
