Holyoke Media Presents: Erika Slocumb’s exhibit Reliquary of Blackness Chapter 2: A Legacy of Hope.
We welcome historian Erika Slocumb in our sound room, to talk about her latest iteration of her research project ‘Black Holyoke’, which is an exhibit at Wistariahurst Museum, titled ‘A Reliquary of Blackness Chapter 2: A Legacy of Hope.’
Erika Slocumb has been working for several years in collecting stories, documents, objects, and establishing connections with people who are descendants of black folk who lived in Holyoke and the Valley area, during the past centuries. This last collection of stories and historical events added to the archives, include the enduring legacy of Black individuals, families, and organizations that have shaped Holyoke’s culture.
The exhibit ‘A Reliquary of Blackness Chapter 2: A Legacy of Hope’ is available for the public at Wistariahurst Museum 238 Cabot Street in Holyoke, MA. More information at wistariahurst.org
