Los libros cuentan la historia de la aventurera Sofía, una niña muy curiosa que queda fascinada con la bomba y se propone tocar la bomba a pesar de cierta oposición. En esta aventura educativa sobre la cultura de Puerto Rico, Sofía aprende mucho más que el arte de la bomba. Tanto la versión en inglés como en español están disponibles en Amazon y todas las ganancias se donarán a Semilla Cultural para recaudar fondos para una camioneta muy necesaria para trasladar su equipo.

Semilla Cultural, fundada en enero de 2014, es una organización sin fines de lucro que desarrolla y cultiva una comunidad que abraza la cultura y las artes puertorriqueñas en la región de Washington DC, Maryland y Virginia. Nos enfocamos en crear conciencia cultural enseñando e interpretando los géneros musicales puertorriqueños de Bomba y Plena, así como educar a la comunidad sobre los eventos históricos que dieron forma a esta música.

A Ponce, Puerto Rico native, Isha is passionate about nature, culture, and science. As a girl, she was fascinated by hurricanes, which propelled her to study meteorology in Washington, DC. Isha then founded a Puerto Rican bomba non-profit, a STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) outreach initiative, and has published her first children’s book.

The books tell the story of adventurous Sofia, a very curious girl who becomes fascinated with bomba and sets out to play the bomba drum despite some opposition. In this educational adventure about the culture of Puerto Rico, Sofia learns so much more than the art of bomba.

Both the English and Spanish versions are available on Amazon and all proceeds will be donated to Semilla Cultural to raise funds for a much needed van to move their equipment. Semilla Cultural, founded in January 2014, is a non-profit organization developing and cultivating a community that embraces Puerto Rican culture and arts in the Washington DC, Maryland and Virginia region.

We focus on raising cultural awareness by teaching and performing the Puerto Rican musical genres of Bomba and Plena, as well as educating the community as to the historical events that shaped this music.
