Mass Cultural Council Grant

 In Holyoke Media, News

We’re very excited to announce that the Massachusetts Cultural Council has provided Holyoke Media with a $200,000 grant that we will use toward creating our new media center at 23 Suffolk Street!

Massachusetts Cultural Council is funded by the Commonwealth, the National Endowment for the Arts, and a variety of private foundations. MCC’s mission is to “partner with communities across the Commonwealth to expand access, improve education, promote diversity, and encourage excellence in the arts, humanities, and sciences.”

Our new facility will include offices, production studios, and a 100-seat black-box theatre. All in the heart of downtown Holyoke. The studios will be much larger than those of most public access stations in the Valley, with upwards of 8,000 square feet of space. It will, as HM Executive Director Scott MacPherson says, “not…just assist with the production and media parts but facilitate arts and culture.”

The next step for 23 Suffolk Street is bidding the building project. Once a contract is signed, work should take about 14 months to complete.

We’re looking forward to a very bright future, and are grateful for MCC’s support!
