This is the second part of the The Nueva Esperanza’s History, as told by one of its founders, Sylvia Robello, with more details of the chronology of events, many of them overlapping and happening at the same time.

This is the personal memory account of Sylvia Robello on the events that led to the origins and creation of Nueva Esperanza. Sylvia Robello, is an artist, retired teacher, and activist, and she shares her own perspective of the history of how Nueva Esperanza started.

She was involved in the creation of this organization, and we want to share her story, as a way to honor and amplify the voice and visibility of a woman who decided to stay behind the scenes, and build community at the same time she was taking care of her own family.
