Pride Flag Raising Ceremony
On June 6, 2022, a flag raising ceremony outside of City Hall took place for the annual observance of Pride Month. In this event, City Councilor at-large, Juan Anderson-Burgos (he/him) hosted the event, that opened with remarks by youth leader of House of Colors, Tora Mateo (they/them), followed by a proclamation by Holyoke Mayor, Joshua A. García (he/him).
Later, the keynote speaker, Chloe Soto (she/her) addressed the audience, and the ceremony concluded with remarks by City Councilor at-large, José L. Maldonado-Velez (he/him).
In attendance, representing Holyoke City Council, Jenni Rivera (Ward 1), Todd McGee (Ward 7), and Tessa Murphy-Romboletti (At-large) were present, as well as State Senator, John Velis, and State Representative, Pat Duffy.
Pride Month in Holyoke will have other events and celebrations, being those:
- Youth Prom at El Mercado. June 10 from 5-8pm
- Potluck Dinner at The Gilded Brick. June 17 from 6-9pm
- PrideFest at Veterans Park. June 18 from 12-6pm
- After Party at Unicorn Inn. June 26 from 7p-12a
