More than 5,000 bills are filed each legislative session. How does a lawmaker get a bill through with that kind of competition? In conversation with area journalists Mike Plaisance, Manuel Frau Ramos (El Sol Latino), Matt Szafranski (Western Mass. Politics and Insight) and Natalia Muñoz (Holyoke Media), state Rep. Aaron Vega, D-Holyoke, outlines how he works at the Statehouse with his colleagues to push for better public education, including feeding school children well regardless of their income, and transparency in government.

Holyoke High School student Christopher Ortiz Caraballo was also on the journalists’ panel.

This is the first episode of “The Politicos,” a program by Holyoke Media in collaboration with the Holyoke Public Schools Media Center and area journalists to bring information about Holyoke and the region from elected leaders to the public.
