City Council Finance Committee

HG&E Adding More Capacity for Natural Gas

The committee heard from Jim Lavelle, general manager of HG&E, on the issue of lifting the natural gas moratorium imposed in January 2019 for lack of capacity to meet consumer demand.
Our colleagues at New England Public Media filed this story about the pipeline.
Lavelle said the municipal utilities company is continuing “on our path to netzero carbon future, which we are well on our way.” He told the committee that if the state approves, HG&E would add 70,000 more gallons of natural gas to its 220,000-gallon capacity now.

The Sept. 12, 2022 Finance Committee agenda is here.

Also meeting this week were the members of the Historical Committee. Watch the full meeting here.
