Gina Nelson is the founder and executive director of Community Roots, the organization that every Thursday at noon provides complete hot lunches to veterans at St. Paul Episcopal Church on Appleton St. Volunteers from the church serve the meals and desserts as Gina roams room making sure that everyone has what they need. Jesús Pereira, director of Veterans Services, and state Sen. John Velis, staunch supporters of the program, were on hand to at the celebration of the 7th anniversary of the program.
