Why Holyoke Schools Search Students
We converse with Holyoke Public Schools Chief Anthony Soto and Holyoke High School-North Campus Principal Lori McKenna about why all students are searched, including their bags, from time to time.
Chief Soto and Principal McKenna point to atrocities that have been happening nationwide, of shooters killing students, teachers and administrators. The leaders aim to keep the schools free and clear of threats so that the general population can go about learning in peace.
The schools send parents and guardians notice of these searches although not with details about what days the searches will occur.
