Little Amal will visit Ashfield, MA, and she will be welcomed by Double Edge Theatre, Ohketeau, and Jupiter Performance Studio.
We gladly welcome Carlos Uriona in our studios, who is behind many of the productions and projects that take place at the Double Edge Theater in Ashfield, MA. In this conversation, we mainly talk about the visit of Little Amal, a 12 feet tall puppet, which represents a 10-year-old girl from Syria, who will be traveling through the United States, starting in Boston on September 7 and ending in San Diego on November 5.
The visit of Little Amal, whose name means ‘Hope’ in Arabic, aims to bring to public visibility the reality of many refugees in the United States and other countries. In this conversation we touch on different aspects of migration, representation, and visibility of displaced communities, including the same ones that have been the first nations in the United States and that today continue to be present despite marginalization.
Little Amal will visit and be welcomed by the Nipmuc community in Ashfield, MA on Sunday, September 10 from 12:30-1:30 pm at the Ashfield Town Commons.
